Here's the deal... You should only count miles when you go out for a run or walk, for the purpose of getting miles in. You can do this on the treadmill, roads, trails, wherever. Not the elliptical, though. No elliptical.
You *shouldn't* count mileage you rack up on your fitness tracker from vacuuming the house, grocery shopping, or other incidental activities. Just count miles for purposeful runs or walks.
